DNS/Web server Workaround Shut Down By Sony

An update to my previous post about setting up your own web server and using DNS to get your PS3 on the PSN with the old firmware: it seems as if Sony has “fixed” this little loophole that made our PS3s once again functional sometime yesterday (2010-04-14).

No word yet on re-enabling this feature without upgrading to the latest firmware.

OS X Failure: Mounting Via Shell (Updated)

No I am not dead and I am back with a Mac. So how about that? I definitely (probably said this before) want to get back into blogging but I ran into something tonight that is pretty irritating. So much so that I had to fire up the ol’ blog account and get to writing.
Now, I’m pretty sure I’m doing something wrong here but none the less I want to post this up and (hopefully) get some input on the situation. Here’s the deal. I want to mount (via Samba on an Ubuntu box named ubuntu1) a shared directory that is named test. I want to mount it in a directory inside my home in a directory named “test” on OS X. Why is it such a problem? Is it even possible to mount a Samba share this way? Note that /Users/mike/test exists but /Users/mike/test1/ doesn’t.

Myspace Targeted Advertising Sucks!

Not sure if I’ve mentioned before (not according to the site search) but I am not a fan of Myspace. At all. I grudgingly do keep an account open on there for the people who have not or will not migrate to Facebook no matter how much I beg. I tend to only log in to view messages that people send me. However little did I know a surprise was waiting for me when I logged in to check the latest message I received.
