Google is Storing Your Clicks in the Cloud

Friday, November 5th, 2010

The subtitle to this probably should be “to make your search result experience that much better.”

I guess this was a pretty obvious next step for Google, or maybe an even more obvious first step, but I’m sure it comes as no surprise to most of you that Google does store which links you’ve clicked in search results if you are logged in. You know this by just viewing the right hand side of a search result you’ve clicked multiple times:

three times!

three times!

So you Justin Beiber fans (I am so current!) know how many times you’ve clicked through his website. I like to keep tabs on when a current production Mac is coming to an end of it’s life cycle.

I am not as popular as Mike Segall though. Not yet, anyway.

Google Gmail Undo Send – The Most Useful Tool

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

I know I’ve sent my fair share of emails to the wrong people, and according to this Gmail Blog, it only takes a few seconds to realize the mistake, which I believe. Thanks to the new Google Labs Undo Semd, you may no longer need to feel like an idiot. Well because you sent an email to the wrong person or had the wrong info or something. Now you have about 5 seconds to realize your mistake and undo sending it. Once it is sent, you cannot remove it from the other person’s inbox. Now the only thing that would make this compelte is the ability to up that timer to about 10 seconds.

Making It Hard to Contact a Company: Google

Saturday, February 7th, 2009

I, for one, am all for trying to save money. One way a business can save money is by minimizing the amount of customer service agents available to the public. Typically when a company does this, they provide a very verbose FAQ for the end user to use to help diagnose a problem. However there are those rare instances when a direct method of communication is required.

Youtube is Turning Down the Lights

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009

I couldn’t decide what to do tonight. It was either reading The Rum Diary by The Good Doctor, Hunter S. Thompson, or watch some Entourage. I am a huge fan of both. However I decided to do something that would expand my mind and entertain me.

Licensing + Google Chrome = What’s the Big Deal?

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Hot off the heals of the latest internet uproar dealing with Google and the End User License Agreement for Google Chrome, I’ve been thinking a lot about this licensing business. What I have to say is not coming from a legal background, rather coming from a much more “open source” background.

Learn to Code with Google Code University

Wednesday, March 19th, 2008

One thing that I have yet to commented much on, at least in this blog, is my love of education. If I had the resources available to me right now, I would have already begun my Masters in Computer Science coursework, then promptly start my Ph.D. However at this point in my life that cannot be [easily] done. How ever, thanks to free courses online, I never feel like I am missing out on further educating myself.

Celldoku – The J2ME Sudoku Experience

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Today’s post is going to be about my independent senior project at Loyola Marymount, Celldoku. I graduated in May of 2006, however only got around to uploading it into Sourcefoge a few weeks ago. I did plan on continuing development on it, however that plan was put on the back burner when I decided that I would go the iPhone route when ever/if-ever they release a 3G version of the phone. Those plans went back onto the front burner when the rumor mill on the interwebs said that Sun is planning on porting a Java runtime environment to the iPhone (thanks to the recent announcement of the SDK). However I may end up recreating the project as a native iPhone application. We will see.
